1970s F1 waxy hongni

This is a 1970s hongni shuiping produced by Yixing Factory 1. The clay is the excellent pre-1977 hongni, second only to zhuni among red clays. Workmanship is standard for the period, with balanced proportions. This teapot has never been used – a fairly rare occurrence for teapots of this age. This can be seen because the teapot still has a thin layer of wax that was placed on the exterior of these Factory 1 teapots when they were produced. The layer melts away immediately when boiling water is poured on the teapot. There is a small amount of mould residual on the rim of the body where the lid rests. The filter is single hole.
